Jewish Blind & Disabled’s 12th annual Friends of JBD Golf Day raised an incredible £45,000 – the highest total in the event’s history.
Held at Hartsbourne Country Club in Bushey, the rain held off to welcome 100 golfers for a day of sport and fundraising. The event was once again brilliantly organised by Lloyd Botchin, alongside Spencer Botchin, Jeremy Doltis, Steve Crawford, and Edward Mott-Cowan.
Lloyd founded the golf day 12 years ago as a tribute to his late parents, Shirley and Max, former tenants at Cecil Rosen Court. Since then, his commitment has helped raise nearly £300,000 for Jewish Blind & Disabled.
Lisa Wimborne, JBD Chief Executive, said:
“With demand for our services at an all-time high, we’re expanding and evolving to meet the needs of our community. That growth depends on fundraising and thanks to Lloyd, his committee, our sponsors and everyone who took part, we now have £45,000 more to help transform lives. It was a fantastic day in every way.”
The winner’s trophy was won by a new team entrant to the JBD Golf Day – captained by Daniel Becker and including Stephen Meakes, Mickey Morgan and John Kiely.
Daniel Becker, said:
“The JBD Golf Day was an enormously enjoyable event for a hugely worthwhile cause. Breakfast and lunch were magnificent, the Hartsbourne course was in perfect condition and even the rain held off until we were back in the clubhouse! We are very proud to have contributed to the £45,000 raised through the event and look forward to defending our title next year!”
