Every building has a dedicated team of house managers who provide 24-hour cover, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They act as good neighbours, assisting when necessary and keeping a caring eye on tenants
House managers call round all tenants every morning and every evening to check that everything is okay, unless requested not to do so, and this helps give peace of mind not just to tenants but to their families as well.
House managers are a first port of call should an emergency situation arise and they are always at the end of the phone or alarm system.
It is important to note that our house managers do not provide care.
Dee joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in 2020 having previously worked in the bathroom industry. She said “the role seemed something different to what I was doing before and a new challenge for me. I love meeting all the different tenants and listening to their stories.
My typical work day is busy; attending to tenants needs or emergency calls, keeping tenants updated with daily/weekly events that may be taking place within the building and I often end up helping with paperwork or email enquiries.
I like working for JBD as the team work is excellent, the managers are all supportive and understanding. Everyday I’m learning something new and everyday has its challenges but I always leave work happy, satisfied and looking forward to another day’s work.”
“I’m so happy living at JBD and there are the most marvellous house managers always on hand who really do go out of their way to help.”Harold, Jewish Blind & Disabled tenant
