Following the success of our first educational session on living with sight loss in November 2024, we were delighted to host a second session in June 2025, bringing together people from across the community.
The event welcomed people living with sight loss, along with care coordinators, community leaders, and Rabbis from synagogues across Hertfordshire and North London. Together, they explored the challenges of vision impairment and how to build more inclusive and supportive environments within their communities.
The session was facilitated by Gary Mazin, a passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusion. Through thoughtful discussion and practical examples, Gary shared simple yet powerful ways to improve everyday support for those living with sight loss.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how valuable it was to gain a deeper understanding and hear directly from people with lived experience.
If you’re part of a synagogue or community group and would like to host a session like this, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Toni Lewis at toni@jbd.org or call 020 8371 6611 ext 620.
Together, we can help create a more accessible and inclusive Jewish community for everyone.
