Treasurer 

We are seeking a new Treasurer to help shape our financial strategy and support our ambitious development plans.

This is a unique opportunity to join our dedicated Board of Trustees and work closely with our Chief Executive and Head of Finance. The Treasurer chairs our Finance Committee and plays a key role in guiding financial planning and ensuring long-term viability.

Finance Committee Members

Are you a finance professional willing to share your skills and expertise for a good cause?

Jewish Blind & Disabled’s Finance committee currently comprises of JBD Chair, Treasurer, a co-opted member, our CEO and Head of Finance meets 4-6 times a year either online or in our Mill Hill East offices.

Key responsibilities of the committee include:

  • Annual budget and longer-term financial forecasts in line with the agreed business plan / strategy for the Charity
  • Regular review of performance against the budget and plan
  • Overseeing all financial aspects of the Charity including arrangement of loans and investments
  • Recommending actions to mitigate risks to satisfactory financial performance.

Nominations and Governance Committee Members

Are you a professional working in recruitment, charity governance or law who is willing to share your skills and expertise for a good cause?

Jewish Blind & Disabled’s Nominations and Governance Committee has been established to provide oversight of the Board’s governance arrangements in line with the Memorandum and Articles of Association and lead on the recruitment and selection for appointments to the Board. The Committee will meet four times a year.

Key responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • To monitor and make recommendations to the Board in areas concerning the recruitment of the Board and CEO
  • Review and make recommendations to the Board on matters regarding corporate governance, risk, safeguarding, and data protection.

Fundraising and Marketing Committee Members

Are you a fundraising or marketing professional looking to make a real difference?

Jewish Blind & Disabled is looking for fundraising and marketing professionals who want to use their skills to change lives. By joining our Fundraising & Marketing Committee, you will play a vital role in shaping how we engage supporters, grow our income, and raise awareness of the unique work we do.

As part of this committee, you will:

  • Help develop and oversee fundraising strategies and campaigns that inspire generosity and long-term support
  • Advise on creative marketing and communications approaches that strengthen our profile and deepen connections with the community
  • Share your professional insights to support the charity’s growth and ensure we can continue to meet the increasing demand for our housing and support services
  • Work with a team of passionate trustees and professionals, bringing your expertise to discussions that directly influence the charity’s impact and sustainability.

For all our Committee members we ask for a small time commitment – usually around an hour or two each month. The committees meet four times a year (online or in person), with some involvement outside of these meetings as needed.

This is a chance to use your skills in a way that has tangible, lasting impact: enabling Jewish adults with physical disabilities or vision impairments to live their lives to the full, with independence, dignity and security.

We are committed to improving the diversity of people involved in our governance so we especially want to hear from women and people living with a disability or have close experience of living with disabilities, as well as candidates from a wide  variety of ages, backgrounds and socio-economic groups.
