Jewish Blind & Disabled have launched a community consultation in East Finchley to gain feedback on our plans to refurbish and extend Fairacres.
Fairacres is our oldest building acquired over 35 years ago, at which time the building underwent extensive works and extensions to provide 29 independent living units. The services now need to be upgraded, to be more efficient / sustainable and some of the building fabric need replacing.
We have developed plans to refurbish and extend Fairacres for our existing and future tenants. The proposed plans, subject to both planning and funding, will see us:
Commenting on the plans, Lisa Wimborne, CEO, Jewish Blind & Disabled said;
“We have a unique opportunity to temporarily rehouse the current Fairacres tenants in our new development in Mill Hill East (due to completion in April 2025) whilst we undertake works at Fairacres.
Fairacres is 37 years old. It was built for disability of a different time. We know we need to modernise Fairacres and with increasing demand for our housing and support our plans will see us also expanding our housing offering at Fairacres. Once compete this building will be as good as new, providing quality accessible homes for another 37 years and beyond”.
