On Sunday 29th November, the Young JBD Committee were excited to be joined on Zoom by fitness influencer, Alice Liveing and Charlie from SoDaFit for their Wake-up and Workout event. Over 60 people took part in a fun 80’s SoDaFit aerobic workout, followed by an exclusive talk and questions and answers with Alice Liveing, the recent recipient of Influencer of the year award at the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year.

Personal trainer, blogger, bestselling author and fitness influencer, Alice, spoke about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the four key pillars of improving physical and mental wellbeing of nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress and gave a range of tips on how to have a healthier lifestyle. She said: “There is no perfect way of doing things; what healthy means is different for different people and its important to move away from a focus on weight loss. I try and get people to find a way of eating that works for them without it being too restrictive or obsessive.”

Young JBD Committee member, Ally Byre, said: “It was great to see so many people join us for this event and we are so grateful to both Charlie from SodaFit and Alice for giving up their Sunday morning to support our event. Being part of the Young JBD Committee is a great way to support people in the community with a physical disability or impaired vision.”

The event was one of several virtual fundraising events this year and raised £600 for Jewish Blind & Disabled. To see future virtual events, click here

Chief Executive Lisa Wimborne commented: “A huge thank you to our wonderful Young JBD Committee. They continue to develop innovative, creative and successful events all of which are not easy things to do in current times. I am so grateful to them for the work they do in support of our tenants and for bringing the next generation a step (or jump in the case of this event) closer to Jewish Blind & Disabled”.
