COVID-19 - LATEST UPDATE

Jewish Blind and Disabled has been following government guidance carefully, taking a range of steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and ensuring we can offer the appropriate level of support to all our tenants.

Whilst the wellbeing of tenants is hugely important to us, safety is absolutely paramount. The lifting of some lockdown measures from 4 July has left many with questions on what is and isn’t allowed and although some measures are starting to be lifted, we must still remember that this pandemic isn’t over.

We are continuing to regularly review the guidance and assess the risk to tenants. All the measures that we have put in place are being reviewed regularly to ensure our buildings and tenants are kept safe. With this in mind, we are continuing to keep all our communal lounges and kitchens closed until further notice.

Although numbers of cases and deaths are falling across the UK, there are increasing cases in some areas. We don’t yet know what the impact of the lifting of restrictions will have on society and with the vulnerability of many of our tenants we feel we need to take a cautious ‘wait and see’ approach.

While our lounges remain closed, our gardens remain open and we have established outdoor visiting areas for relatives and friends in each of our gardens. Time in these spaces can be booked with House Managers.

While the two-metre social distancing guidance changed in England at the beginning of July, with the advice now being where it isn’t possible to stay two metres apart, people should keep a distance of at least one metre. We, at JBD, will continue to enforce the two-metre rule in our gardens, roof terraces and when walking through our buildings. We believe this is possible, and most importantly the safest approach to take.

All the measures we have put in place focus on protecting our tenants. We can all play an important role in limiting the spread of the virus.
