Young JBD is a committee of eight young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s who give of their time and energy for the benefit of Jewish Blind & Disabled. Now over three years old the committee continues to go from strength to strength, raising both awareness of the unique work that the charity does as well as much needed funds. By continuing with their strategy of organising original fund raising events the committee have not only managed to raise over £27,000 in the last 3 years, but also now enjoy a Facebook group of over 1,000 members.

Their recent events included their third birthday party held at Clerkenwell House where around 200 people danced the night away and guests received birthday cupcakes, sweeties and glow sticks as well as being entered into a prize draw for Snoop Dogg tickets. This event alone raised over £3,000. Prior to this, their sell-out pub quiz raised over £1,500.

The committee are currently putting together an exciting programme for 2012. For more information about these forthcoming Young JBD events please contact Danielle on 020 8371 6611 or email danielle@jbd.org.

"Having my own apartment means that I can shut the door on the world whenever I choose. Because the flat's mine I have been able to decorate it as I like and fill it with my personal belongings. My disabilities mean that I need support and my fear had been that I might end up in a home, instead of which I have a home of my own - my own flat of which I am very proud.”
