Can you imagine what it's like... it's like... to not be
able to bathe yourself?
it's like... to be unable to cook
without risking an accident?
it's like... to feel like you are living
in solitary confinement?
The evidence is clear, you can help tear down the barriers to independence.

Our Apartments

Resized Rachel's Lounge.jpg

Each of our tenants creates their own individualised home behind their own front door. As our tenants vary in age - from mid-20’s to late 90’s, as well as in mobility and in religious observance – so do their homes vary reflecting individual tastes and lifestyles.

We currently have seven developments across North London with building work about to start on a new development in Bushey Heath later in 2017.

In common all apartments share the special features and thoughtful touches that enable people with a wide variety of disabilities to live the independent life that everyone deserves, including:

  • door locks positioned above the door handle to help the less dextrous access their own apartment without needing help to do so
  • intercoms and emergency pull cords in each apartment that can be heard and responded to from any room, and which are used by house managers each morning and evening to check that all is well
  • wet floor shower rooms with shower seat and handrails
  • special easy to use taps in bathroom and kitchen
  • wheelchair accessible kitchens with work surfaces at the appropriate height
  • easy-to-access sockets throughout

Furthermore each block of apartments has attractive, well-maintained gardens which are wheelchair accessible and include special sensory areas for the vision impaired. The new Bushey development will also offer  a roof terrace to be enjoyed by all.

In addition all our developments have welcoming communal areas for those who enjoy the option of socialising as part of a community. Here our teams of volunteers organise many regular activities including breakfasts, lunches, coffee mornings and afternoon teas plus a variety of other social, cultural and religious events; not to mention the opportunity for tenants to gather informally whenever desired.

In this way each complex provides the ideal balance between personal privacy on the one hand, and belonging to a warm and welcoming community on the other.

Young Patron O2 Climb

Thank you to our 14 climbers who raised £6,500 towards this year's Young Patron project, to fund specialist mobility apartments at our new development in Bushey Heath. The climb was sponsored by M&CSAATCHI.
