No. 11 visits Jewish Blind & Disabled

Following the highly successful 40th Anniversary reception kindly hosted at No. 11 Downing Street in October, Mrs Darling paid a special visit this month to one of Jewish Blind & Disableds buildings to see the charity in action.

Mrs Darling was welcomed by Hazel Kaye, Chief Executive together with Marilyn Ozin, Council Member, who accompanied Maggie around Frances and Dick James Court in Mill Hill, one of the six Jewish Blind & Disabled buildings.

Mrs Darling was able to see at first hand how the charity helps vision impaired and/or physically disabled Jewish people live independently with dignity and choice. Maggie was shown around the state of the art facilities, meeting many tenants living at the Mill Hill site, including tenant Russell Reuben and his wife Felicity.

Maggie Darling added:
"It was a privilege to host the 40th anniversary party for Jewish Blind and Disabled and then to visit them in the community and see first hand the work they do to make sure that those they support live a life of independence and dignity.

"I want to commend JBD for their commitment to providing support, autonomy and security for disadvantaged people in their community for over four decades."

As Jewish Blind & Disabled look to the future, Hazel Kaye Chief Executive thanked Mrs Darling for visiting, and hopes that 2010 will bring good news with plans of expansion to a new site.
