Jewish Blind & Disabled expand in Redbridge

One of six Jewish Blind & Disabled buildings in North London, Aztec House, built in 2001, welcomes the new and much needed flats and Computer Room. New applicants who have been on the charity's long waiting list for flats are in the process of being allocated the new one or two bedroom apartments, with the aim to move in this summer.

Two new happy tenants who recently moved into one of the new flats are sisters; Essie Pearl and Miriam Disdale featured to the right. Having spent a number of years living in an apartment block in North West London, the sisters are delighted with their move. Both sisters were in need of the 24 hour support services offered only by Jewish Blind & Disabled, especially Essie, who took a bad fall back in 2008 and has since suffered with osteoporosis, and experiences severe problems standing.

Since moving to Aztec at the beginning of July, the sisters are settling in comfortably and enjoying the summer sunshine in their garden. They have already been to various social activities in the building and add:
"The best bit about living in a Jewish Blind & Disabled flat, is that we are with other Jewish people. We are part of a community, something we did not have at our old apartment".

As well as the new flats, the project includes a brand new Computer Room, which is available for all tenants to use. Tenants; David Fahn and Joel Duskwick also featured, will be volunteering their time to tutor tenants in basic computer skills three times a week.
