On Sunday 5th August 23 brave supporters of Jewish Blind & Disabled took part in a firewalk which helped to raise a phenomenal £9,000 towards funding wet floor shower rooms in our new Bushey Heath development due to open later this year.

Firewalkers were given a two hour motivational seminar from Blaze firewalking company where they were taught how to take on the challenge of walking 20 feet over hot coals at an average temperature of 1,236 degrees Fahrenheit.

Spectators were invited to come and support our firewalkers where they were treated to a BBQ, whilst watching the Olympic 100m men’s semi final then the final after the firewalk.

Danielle Foux one of our firewalkers said “During the motivational seminar I wasn’t nervous but as soon as we went outside to watch the fire lighting ceremony it really hit home what I was doing and I became very worried. When it came to firewalking we didn’t have a chance to think it all happened so quickly. I have to say it is one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had, once you have done it you feel like you can do anything”

Our Young Patron Board would like to say a huge thank you to Wingate & Finchely Football club and Blaze the firewalk company for all their help and support with this event.

If you would like more information about taking on one of our challenges please email Danielle or call 020 8371 6611.
