Can you imagine what it's like... it's like... to not be
able to bathe yourself?
it's like... to be unable to cook
without risking an accident?
it's like... to feel like you are living
in solitary confinement?
The evidence is clear, you can help tear down the barriers to independence.

Jewish Blind & Disabled are delighted to announce the success of their supper quiz which took place at Hasmonean Boys School on 6th March 2011.

Around 200 people enjoyed Jewish Blind & Disabled’s annual supper quiz held, this year, at Hasmonean Boy’s School. The £3,000 raised will go toward the building of Jewish Blind & Disabled’s latest development of mobility apartments in Bushey, Herts. These apartments, like those in JBD’s existing six buildings across North East and North West London, will enable people from the age of 18 upwards who are physically disabled or vision impaired to live independently in a flat of their own with the safety net of 24 hour a day, seven day a week on site support.

Victoria Lester, co-chair of the committee, welcomed everyone to the evening and spoke movingly of the way in which Jewish Blind & Disabled transforms the lives not just of tenants but also of their families based on her personal experience of when her grandfather had an apartment in JBD’s Hilary Dennis Court. Richard Carlow, co-chair and the only man on the committee, proved to be a redoubtable quiz master creating questions with that elusive “Oh I know that …. what it is it?!?!?!?” quality.

“The committee did a really fantastic job. The evening not only raised much needed funds but was also enjoyed by everyone there.Malcolm Ozin, President of Jewish Blind & Disabled.

Our thanks go to everyone involved and, most particularly, to everyone who turned out on a freezing cold evening to support the charity.
