Malcolm Ozin - President
A businessman with long experience in the property industry, Malcolm Ozin was one of the founders of what was then the Jewish Blind and Physically Handicapped Society in 1969. Along with the late Cecil Rosen, Malcolm presided over the phenomenal growth of the charity from the opening of its first building, Cavendish House, in Dulwich in 1971 through to the opening of its seventh building, Frances & Dick James Court in 2003. Malcolm spends the majority of his week working for the charity in an entirely voluntary capacity as its President and describes this work as: "Extremely satisfying and rewarding". His greatest pleasure is: "To follow the progress of our tenants from the initial home visit and watch them blossom within the Jewish Blind & Disabled family".
John Joseph - Chairman
John started his own company, GET, at age 16 with a loan. By 1995, when GET Group floated on the London Stock Exchange with a full listing, it had built a strong brand and was renowned for its innovation and product design. John remained Chairman until the company was acquired in November 2006 at which time the Group employed over 300 people with an turnover of almost £100m.
Jewish Blind & Disabled's founder, the late Cecil Rosen, passed away in 1994. John, who had been a Council Member for some years, was asked to become Chairman. John stated that he would take on the role of Chairman, in a voluntary capacity, on condition he was allowed to drive the charity forward to meet the demands of the community. Since 1995, 4 additional projects have been built, adding an extra 180 flats to the existing 101.
Hazel Kaye - Chief Executive
Hazel trained and worked at Xerox (UK) as a Sales Account Manager before moving into the charity sector. Prior to joining Jewish Blind & Disabled in 2002, Hazel worked for the UJIA for 3 years, first as Major Gifts Fundraiser and then as Head of the Business Division.
In 2005, after 3 years as the charity's Campaigns Director, Hazel moved into the role of Chief Executive
Campaign Team
Tina Son - Marketing Executive
Tina joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in April 2010. Her role is to coordinate marketing activities for the charity. Prior to that she worked in advertising design and direct marketing for 30 years.
Gemma Brown - Fundraising Executive
Gemma joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in May 2008 to organise specific fundraising events and initatives for the whole community. Gemma worked with JNF as a Youth Events Fundraiser for three years and prior to JNF worked with Leeds City Council coordinating the sponsorship & marketing for their events department.
Stephen Brownstone - Campaign Administrator
Stephen joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in March 2007. His role is to deal with all aspects of appeals, fundraising and legacies. Prior to which he worked in financial services for 20 years.
Frankie Goldman - Campaign Administrator
Frankie joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in August 2002. Her role is to deal with all aspects of fundraising events and appeals. Prior to which she worked as a Retail Manager for 20 years.
Laura Ellis - Family Development Officer
Laura joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in June 2004 to co-ordinate all marketing and fundraising appeals and events. Prior to which she worked for Samsung as Merchandiser in the Textiles department. She has recently returned from maternity leave to the charity in the new role of Family Development Officer.
Office Support
Karen Markham - HR & Executive Assistant
Before joining Jewish Blind and Disabled in October 2008, Karen worked in a variety of retail organisations and within the Telecoms industry as a Human Resources Manager.
In addition to HR, Karen also works closely with Hazel Kaye as Executive Assistant.
Tenant Support Team
Sandie Myers - Head of House Management and Tenant Support
Sandie joined Jewish Blind and Disabled in December 2007. Her role is to both manage the House Managers in the buildings across NW and NE London as well as the staff in the Tenant Support Team. This team help the tenants from home visiting and assessment, through to their move into a Jewish Blind and Disabled building, to ongoing care and support when needed. Sandie is a qualified Social Worker who has had many years experience having previously worked at Jewish Care Managing their Social Work Department.
Keren Yakov - NE London Tenants Support Advisor
Keren joined the Tenant Support Team in June 2008. Keren works directly with all our tenants in NE London supporting them on welfare issues enabling them to continue to live independently within our projects.
Miri Sagir - NW London Tenants Support Advisor
Miri joined the team at Jewish Blind & Disabled in January 2010. Her role is to support the NW London tenants with any welfare and benefit issues in order to facilitate them to live independently. Miri has previously worked in various supporting roles.
Miriam Marsden - Tenant Support Administrator
Miriam joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in 2010 to help assist our Tenant Support Advisors.
Caroline King - Tenant Support Administrator
Caroline joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in 2010 to help assist our Tenant Support Advisors.
Housing
Daniel Chakimi - Property Manager
Daniel joined Jewish Blind and Disabled in February 2009 as manager of our property department. He has extensive experience in the Property Industry having worked as a property dealer, developer and manager since 2000. His role is to oversee all maintenance and planned works to the Charity's properties, be responsible for new works and developments, and assist with site acquisition. Daniel also serves as the Charity's Head of Health and Safety.
Volunteer Team
Marilyn Haft - Community Executive
Marilyn joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in January 1997 after spending 8 years with Barnardos working on events and public education. Marilyn heads our Community Team which includes the volunteer coordinators and volunteers. Over the years she has introduced clubs, events and home visitor schemes as well as initiating many in-house development plans for tenants and volunteers meeting the needs to motivate, stimulate and communicate. Her Bi line is: 'If we meet the need of 1 person we know we have done our job' but we know Marilyn and her team meet the need of many tenants who live within our buildings. Alongside this Marilyn promotes wherever possible Jewish Blind & Disabled within the community and administers the general running of the Community Office.
Ruth Davey - Volunteer Coordinator North West London
Ruth joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in January 2005 to promote and introduce volunteers, clubs and events to our North West London Buildings. Working for a large Jewish charity on their help line and in their Braille library and her vast experience of work in the travel industry, gave her a wonderful grounding of what people need to make them feel happy and secure. The introduction of luncheon clubs throughout the area has been a great success and continues to grow. With support of new volunteers she hopes to open new clubs within the area. Renowned for her cream teas -tenants cannot wait for the summer months to arrive.
Maralyn Wigzell - Community Team Assistant
Marilyn joined Jewish Blind & Disabled in January 2009. Her role covers a wide range of activities in NE London incorporating the volunteer sector and clubs, alongside supporting the Community Executive. Marilyn will be known in the organisation as Em as we seem to have an abundance of Marilyn's.
Em has a strong administration background including five years as a Senior Administrator for the YMCA England, and before joining Jewish Blind & Disabled spent four years as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. With hobbies including Ballroom and Latin Dancing, Jazz and cooking our tenants are sure to have an even more exciting time at their clubs.

Michael Cohen - Honorary Treasurer
Michael joined the Council of Management of Jewish Blind & Disabled in 1998 as Treasurer, in a voluntary capacity. Qualifying as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andresen, Michael varied experience includes being Finance Director of Fimat Banque, the futures arm of Societe Generale, and COO of the UK based trading activities of Koch Industries, the largest private company in the US. Latterly Michael was Group Finance Director for GET Group plc prior to its sale in 2006.
